"US?" Biased? Not "US!"
US Magazine Cover Bias Against Sarah Palin

The media's love affair with Barack Obama is undeniable, especially after US Magazine ran this cover featuring Republican VP pick - Governor Sarah Palin. "US?" Biased? Not "US!"

Notice the soft, warm cover showcasing Barack and Michelle Obama affectionately joined at the hip like 'soul mates.' Further notice the caption: "She shops at Target, loved Sex and the City, and never misses the girls' recitals. The untold romance between a down-to-earth mom and the man who calls her 'my rock.'"

It's no wonder "Why Barack (and the media) Loves Her!"

Clearly, this cover pushes all the so-called 'mainstream mom' buttons. No, she doesn't shop at Barneys New York like a woman who earned $273,618 in 2006; instead, she shops at Target, just like you and me! She doesn't watch CSPAN 1 & 2 or FoxNews or the ever-boring History Channel; instead, she watches Sex and the City like millions and millions of other "down-to-earth moms," all of whom make time in their demanding schedules for the girls. What a rock.

Fast forward to a subsequent cover run by US Magazine after the McCain campaign announced his pick for the VP on the Republican ticket - Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

US Magazine Bias Against Sarah Palin

"Babies, Lies & Scandal"

"Under attack...admits daughter pregnant...investigated for firing...new embarrassing surprises."

Does she even shop at Target? I doubt it (Target is a major advertiser in US Magazine), and rather than watching Sex and the City like the Obamas, she (and her daughter) is too busy living it (when she's not using her power to get her sister's ex-husband fired)! And I suspect she hasn't been to any of the girls' recitals, attending her daughter's OBGYN appointments instead. Doesn't sound like a "down-to-earth mom" to "US" now, does it?

US Magazine used to market itself to women, containing the usual diet tips ("Have your cake and eat it, too!" type of articles), make-overs and beauty tips, tons of fashion trends, and tips on getting your lazy husband off the couch and in the bedroom; oh, yea, and all sorts of celebrity gossip and crap. Now, however, it is nothing but a political rag and tabloid trash.
